A notarized power of attorney signed by the car owner is one of the proofs TDLR lists for recovering a vehicle at a Texas storage facility. It is not a shortcut around fees, photo ID, or a police hold. Call the lot that actually has the car and ask whether it will release to you with that POA before you drive from Kingsville, Portland, or Flour Bluff.
Quick Tow Corpus Christi does not store cars and cannot sign a release. We match you with a licensed operator after the yard says the vehicle can leave.
What TDLR means by power of attorney here
On TDLR’s consumer retrieval list, proof that you own the car or have the owner’s permission includes “a notarized power-of-attorney signed by the car owner” (TDLR Consumer Information). You still bring photo ID. You still pay every allowed tow and storage charge.
TDLR also publishes a specific power of attorney PDF. Ask the lot whether it wants that form, a general notarized POA, or TDLR’s VSF-013 owner removal form. Do not guess. A form that worked at a yard in another county may not be the packet this yard uses.
Notarization is part of the TDLR wording. A screenshot of a signed letter is not the same thing. If the owner is out of town, they get a notary where they are. You do not fill that gap with a text message.
The lot, not the referral line, decides
Private-property tows from apartments, hospitals, and business lots go to the operator’s vehicle storage facility. Police-directed tows in Corpus Christi can go to the CCPD Vehicle Impound Lot at 5485 Greenwood Dr. City releases run 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. The published pound number is (361) 857-1996 (City of Corpus Christi, Vehicle Impounds).
If you do not know which fence has the car, follow which lot has my car. Tell that office you are not the registered owner and that you have a notarized POA. Get a yes or a no on the phone. A non-registered owner pickup without a POA uses a different TDLR proof, such as an insurance card or a matching license.
A city or investigative hold is separate. A POA does not lift a hold. Ask CCPD and the lot whether a hold is on the file.
Fees do not pause for paperwork
TDLR’s adjusted daily storage is $22.85 for vehicles 25 feet or less and $39.99 for longer vehicles. Notification can add up to $50 unless the car is reclaimed within 24 hours or before notice goes out. Statewide nonconsent tow caps are $272 / $380 / $489 by weight class. Local rules can sit under those caps. None of those figures is your bill. Ask the yard for the itemized total on this VIN.
You may access the car at the VSF to get documents and personal property without a fee. You cannot take the car without paying.
Once the yard releases it
Call (361) 967-8088 if the car will not leave under its own power. The independent operator quotes before rolling. Our published light-duty hookup starts at $125 for the first 5 miles. That is the brand rate on this site, not a lot fee and not a guaranteed total.
